Bextra
Bextra (Valdecoxib) is used to relieve the pain, tenderness, inflammation or swelling, and stiffness caused by arthritis and to treat painful menstrual periods. Bextra is in a class of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDs) called COX-2 inhibitors. Bextra works by stopping the body's production of a substance that causes pain and inflammation.

Directions on how to take
This medicine comes as a tablet to take by mouth. Bextra is usually taken with or without food once or twice a day. Do not take more or less of Bextra or take Bextra more often than prescribed by your doctor.
Warnings and Precautions
Before taking Bextra tell your doctor if you are allergic to aspirin, other NSAIDS, sulfa drugs, or any other medications, what prescription and nonprescription medications, vitamins, nutritional supplements, and herbal products you are taking. Tell your doctor if you have or have ever had ulcers, stomach bleeding, kidney or liver disease, heart failure, high blood pressure, swelling of legs and ankles, asthma.
Possible side effects
Side effects may include stomach pain, diarrhea, heartburn, back pain, headache
Some Bextra side effects can be serious. The following Bextra symptoms are uncommon, but if you experience any of them, call your doctor immediately: rash,
swelling of the hands, feet, ankles, or lower legs, black and tarry stools, red blood in stools, vomiting material that looks like coffee grounds, unexplained weight gain, upset stomach, extreme tiredness, lack of energy, itching, pain in the right upper, part of the stomach, flu-like symptoms, yellowing of the skin or eyes, difficulty in breathing. If symptoms persist, consult your doctor.
Storage
Keep Bextra in the container it came in, tightly closed, and out of reach of children. Store Bextra at room temperature and away from excess heat and moisture (not in the bathroom).
Additional Information
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember it. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.
